Safety and Security Policies
Bringhurst Community Church and Rise and Shine Preschool
-
The safety and well-being of every child in our care is our highest priority. All staff members receive annual training in infant and child CPR and first aid. In addition, each staff member undergoes a criminal background check prior to working with children.
-
Bringhurst Community Church maintains a secure facility to help ensure the safety of all children. Children must be checked in and out through the designated entry area located inside the front doors. For the protection of every child, they will only be released to adults who have been pre-approved on the child’s authorized pick-up list. Staff may request photo identification from anyone they do not personally recognize before releasing a child.
-
Our facilities comply with all applicable building and safety regulations. Classrooms and child care areas are carefully childproofed and maintained to reduce risks and prevent accidents wherever possible.
-
The facility is regularly inspected to ensure compliance with safety standards. These inspections may include oversight from agencies such as the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM), the Indiana Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA).
-
To help prepare children and staff for emergencies, fire drills are conducted periodically, and tornado drills are practiced during tornado season. Emergency exit routes and response plans are posted in every classroom. In the event of an emergency, parents or guardians will be notified as quickly as possible.
-
To maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, the use of tobacco products, alcohol, illegal drugs, or the improper use of toxic substances is strictly prohibited anywhere on the child care premises.
